i've been using grab-a-cab regularly for about three years now.
positives:
-willing to pick you up ANYWHERE and take you ANYWHERE. i've taken cabs from maple grove raceway to west reading and from womelsdorf to sinking spring--they will never say "we don't service that area."
-some of the cab drivers are quite pleasant. it's a taxi, not a limo. i don't know why you expect it to be classy.
-from what i've been told, much cheaper than Reading Metro.
negatives:
-unreliable wait time. i don't even care if it takes two hours to get to me, just keep it consistent. after several days in a row of my cab not arriving until 90 minutes after calling (of course they always say he'll be there in 10-15), i tried calling early, and lo and behold my dear friend was there within 10 minutes!
-dispatchers, or at least the ones that i've dealt with, are RUDE as hell. i understand lying about the wait time--i've been a hostess in a busy restaurant, so i know that secret. but if i call back several times asking where my cab is, and he's an hour away, please do not keep telling me he's five minutes away.
-drivers don't know where they're going. maybe it's a tactic to take you the long way. maybe it's because i take cabs to weird places. either way, it bugs me.
i'll continue to use grab-a-cab ONLY out of necessity, as there are simply no other options. i guess that's how they get you.
(i'm writing this review now because i called at 3:28pm for a ride ten minutes down Penn Ave in Sinking Spring. it's 4:45 and it's looking like i'm going to be late for work at 5:00--again. i called the dispatcher back about ten minutes ago, and he told me they haven't even sent someone in my direction yet.)
